Rev Prof Finbarr Clancy SJ

Fr Finbarr teaches courses on the Fathers of the Church in St Patrick’s College, Maynooth, and in the Loyola Institute at Trinity College Dublin. He is a former Rector of the Ecclesiastical Faculty and Acting President of the Milltown Institute in Dublin. His research interests lie in Patristics – especially Patristic ecclesiology, exegesis of Scripture, catechesis on the sacraments, and the social thought of the Fathers, the ecumenical dialogue between the Roman Catholic and Orthodox Churches, Trinity, Eucharist, Priesthood, Mariology, and the writings of Yves Congar O.P. He has a keen interest in early Irish sources of Christian thought and in the iconography of the Book of Kells.
