Continuous Assessment (Reflections & Participation): 40% Final Essay: 60%

Module Aims

The aim of this module is to (1) explore theological – including more broadly religious and philosophical – themes as they are presented and dramatized in literature and (2) familiarize students with some lesser-known Christian novelists and poets.

Learning Outcomes

  • Explain the main accomplishments and key works of select literary writers
  • Identify theological themes and allusions in select works of fiction and poetry
  • Describe the advantages and disadvantages of engaging with these themes through a literary medium rather than through a medium of formal exposition
