The National Seminary will host the broadcast of televised Mass in honour of our patron on St Patrick’s Day on RTÉ 1 at 11:00.

Welcoming the event, Fr Tomás Surlis, Seminary Rector, said: “The seminary community has been together as a community of prayer, worship and work in one stable household group since the beginning of the year. Our unique position as one household has enabled the choir to continue to sing together at a time of restrictions on choral singing in parishes across the country. We are grateful that, although our movements continue to be restricted, we are able to gather together each day, socially distant and wearing masks, to pray for our brothers and sisters, sons and daughters of the spiritual heritage of St Patrick, who cannot attend the celebration of the sacraments during this time of pandemic. On St Patrick’s Day this year, we reach out in prayer to you, wherever you are, at home, in hospital, in a care residence, or joining us online in these difficult times.”

In keeping with public health guidelines, the seminary choir will be present as the congregation, together with the Director of Sacred Music, Dr John O’Keeffe. The soloist will be Sharon Carty (Associate Artist and Mezzo-Soprano) and the organist will be James Murphy.

The Mass celebrant will be Fr Tomás Surlis, Rector of the National Seminary.
