Maynooth University's Special Collections, with the aid of Dr Elizabeth Boyle, Department of Early Irish, and Prof. Salvador Ryan, Faculty of Theology, has recently acquired a 550-year-old book, which contains one of the earliest discussions of Ireland in print. The book is the so-called editio princeps or first printed edition of an influential Latin work of Christian history, the Seven Books of History Against the Pagans by Paulus Orosius, friend of Augustine of Hippo, who wrote it shortly after the year 400.

This printed edition dates from 1471, making it the oldest edition on the island of Ireland. Read more about this remarkable acquisition in the latest MU Library Treasures blog post: https://mulibrarytreasures.wor...
