One of our recent doctoral graduates, Angela Costley, has just published her Ph.D. thesis in the prestigious WUNT series produced by Mohr Siebeck press (Tübingen). The volume is entitled: Creation and Christ: An Exploration of the Topic of Creation in the Epistle to the Hebrews. This monograph looks at how the author of Hebrews depicts Jesus as the creator God who descends to earth to redeem humanity and lead it heavenward. Whereas previous studies of the Epistle to the Hebrews have focused mainly on its priestly theology of Christ, Angela Costley explores the identity and saving role of the Son through whom God made the aeons.

After studying in the UK at Durham University (theology and education theory) and Oxford University (Masters in Jewish Studies), Angela Costley came to St. Patrick's College, Maynooth, graduating with a doctorate in 2018. She currently teaches New Testament Greek and Wisdom Literature at St. Mary's College, Oscott, Birmingham, UK.
