On the 3rd of October 2016 St Patrick’s College had the pleasure of holding an honours ceremony of the Pontifical University, St. Patrick’s College, Maynooth, at which the Degree of Doctor of Philosophy, honoris causa, was conferred on Sr. Margaret Casey RSM, Congregation of the Sisters of Mercy.

This honours ceremony was a recognition of the immense contribution of the Congregation of the Sisters of Mercy to education and health, following the charism of the Venerable Catherine McAuley and faithful to the Gospel of Mercy; for creating a more compassionate and merciful world.

The honour embraces all the Sisters of Mercy including those noble sisters, servants of the poor, who have entered eternal life.
