Module Aims

To penetrate more deeply into the following mysteries: the Incarnation, salvation, the Church, and the Last Things.

To trace the historical development of Christological doctrine.

To examine the life of Christ and his saving work.

To examine the ways in which the Church continues Christ's saving work.

To examine the ultimate destiny of this saving work.

Learning Outcomes

  • Demonstrate an understanding of the major developments of Christological and Trinitarian doctrine through the first four Ecumenical Councils.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the identity of Jesus Christ, his life and his mission, in the light of Scripture and Tradition.
  • Explain what soteriology is, and compare and contrast various atonement theories.
  • Explain the origin, mission, and structure, of the Church.
  • Discuss the salient points of Catholic Eschatology (e.g., the four last things).
