Hearing, Happening, Hoping

Resources for Lectio Divina

Home / About / Hearing-happening-hoping

Introduction

Hearing, Happening, Hoping is a way of reading of a biblical text in the hope of meeting God! Meeting God is something that happens in our lives. God is already in our lives, so what we’re really doing is discovering the One who is already there. Hearing, Happening, Hoping is an accessible way of practising lectio divina, the Church’s ancient way of welcoming God’s word and hearing God’s call in the Scriptures.

Prof Seamus O’Connell and Dr Jessie Rogers, along with Maynooth graduates and friends, have developed this resource so that “easy access to the Scripture may be provided for all the Christian faithful.” (Vatican II, Dei Verbum, § 22).
