ACCORD in partnership with St Patrick’s Pontifical University, Maynooth, is offering advanced entry at year 3 to a new 4-year, level 8, degree course in Counselling (Couple Relationships) to Accord’s Higher Diploma graduates. The Advanced Entry Route will commence in January 2022.

Taking place at the historic Maynooth Campus, all course components are delivered at weekends. Students will build on their previous learning and extensive practical experience of working with couples and individuals on relationship issues, develop further competence in the application of a range of advanced couple and relationships counselling skills from a range of modalities, build on their appreciation of the importance of safe and ethical practice, use a variety of methods to develop and deepen self‑awareness, examine the role of spirituality in the counselling context, and gain knowledge of and experience in the use of a range of research methods.

Students will have full access to St Patrick’s library and study facilities, plus accommodation can be arranged if necessary.

Application Requirements

The entry requirements for those who wish to enter the advanced entry (two year programme) are as follows;

Applications are welcome from those with a pass in the ACCORD Certificate in Counselling (Marriage and Relationship) Level 8.

Applications may be considered from those who have equivalent qualifications and will be considered on a case by case basis. However, those under the age of 25 may not have the necessary life experience to satisfactorily participate in this programme.

For applicants whose first language is not English and who have not previously undertaken a degree taught through English, evidence must be provided of proficiency in English language equivalent to B2+ or above on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFRL). This must be evidenced through a recognised English Language test such as IELTS, Cambridge Certificate. Test certificates should be dated within the last two years to be considered valid.
