Reverend Professor Hugh Connolly elevated to Monsignor by Pope Benedict XVI.

Reverend Professor Hugh Connolly has been conferred with the title Monsignor by the Holy Father, Pope Benedict XVI.

The official parchment was presented by the President’s own bishop, Most Reverend John McAreavey, Bishop of Dromore.  Accepting the document from the Holy See, Monsignor Connolly said that he believed this prestigious award should not be seen simply in terms of a personal honour, but rather as a sign of the Holy Father’s affection and regard for the seminarians, students and staff of Maynooth College and indeed for the broader campus community.
